Let Me Tell You My Origin Story

giant book with a chair and tree
Greek vase of Achillles killing Penthesilea, part of my origin story

I was asked to write my “origin” story as a writer for Donis Casey’s regular “Tell Me Your Story” series. I was a bit hesitant because I don’t think of myself as having the usual sort of writer beginning. But I had a lot of fun telling how I got started on this somewhat mad profession. Now I can’t give it up. Here’s the link to Donis Casey’s website, “Tell Me Your Story: Judith Starkston.”

For a post about one particularly beautiful archaeological artifact and how it influenced my early writing, go here.

  1. Love this post Judith. I am persevering with the Hittite language and have a video of a lady speaking this language, it’s a lovely language to listen too. I have to wait for my lessons from my teacher as I am doing them online.

  2. I admire your work with Hittite, Rita. Learning Hittite is an ambitious project. The “spoken” version will be a hypothetical reconstruction, which doesn’t lessen the fun of hearing it!
