Find out how I bring Tesha and Hattu’s story to completion in the fourth and final book of my Hittite inspired historical fantasy series, Flights of Treason. (Or jump in and read this one as your first. I write each book to work as a stand alone read.)
Bringing the series to a dramatic close
I confess pulling off this ending was challenging. I’ve never added so many layers of drama and conflict in one closing sequence of scenes. The tides of a sprawling battlefield, siege warfare and some ingeniously deceptive engineering, swords and spears, sorcery and magic, demons, and, of course, griffins.
This book has an ensemble of heroes. Tesha couldn’t do it alone, not even with Hattu’s capable assistance. The age spread of these unlikely heroes is part of what made this book such fun to write. Not to mention heroes from multiple species! If history, magic, and fantastical beasts sounds good to you, you’ll enjoy Flights of Treason.
You can find your ebook or paperback copy of Flights of Treason on Amazon. (affiliate link)
What people are saying about Flights of Treason
I enjoyed this snippet from the first review posted yesterday:
“As a history nerd and a devoted A Song of Ice and Fire fan, I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend Judith Starkston’s historical fantasy series.…for those of us who appreciate a bit of fantasy mingled into their history, diving into Starkston’s world is an enchanting way to spend our time while waiting for the premiere of House of the Dragon next month.” -Jennifer Laam, author of The Romanov Impostor
I have been a guest on several podcasts. Today I’ll share the link to one of my current favorites, Samuel Hale’s The Author Preface. We had an extended conversation about ancient world fiction, fantasy, combining history and magic, and several other topics of delight for history and fantasy readers. Here’s the link to his Author Preface podcast on Spotify.
